Wellington Winter Wobble 10k V3
10am 30th December 2021
By entering you are agreeing to all the conditions listed below.
Wellington Running Clubs second running of this timed event (not a race).
New year, new bling! Please read all the following information to make sure you are prepared for run day. I make no apologies for the rules I would hope everyone will follow to keep us safe. In doing so we can enjoy a fun event so read on.
This can also be run as a virtual 10km were you run when and where you choose to claim your medal via postage.
Firstly, this is not a road closed English athletics registered event. You will be running on public footpaths and roads and do so at your own risk. We do not hold any official licence and we do not hold any insurance to cover any incident before during or after.
Please always observe the highway code. Do not put yourself, fellow runners, and other road users at risk by poor judgement. A few seconds gained means nothing if you or someone gets injured or worse. I would strongly advise people do not wear headphones. Run safe, worth repeating RUN SAFE! If a fellow runner takes a fall or needs assistance, please stop and help.
Please click on the link below for help in using the highway code.
Please DO NOT ATTEND if you feel unwell or have symptoms of COVID-19
And lastly, please make sure you feel you are adequately fit to complete this 10km. Cut off time is two hours so in theory it could be walked so do not panic. If you need to walk sections do so. You have time.
The Start and finish will be in Wellington playing fields marked with white cross.
There are no public toilets on site and I’m not sure if the town toilets will be open due to the holiday period. Sorry to have to list this but please be respectful and not relive yourself in a public location.
Please make sure you are familiar with the start location and how to get there. I do not want you to panic on the day and arrive late for your start wave. Car parks are marked by a red circle. The one closest to the start is very small and often busy so if you need to drive use larger one. I hope most people will however walk to start to allow their legs etc to warm up.
On arriving at the playing field entrance please make sure you have told the Marshall taking names your name so we can know who is in the race start. No bibs will be issued as we will be handing out numbered tokens at the finish much like parkrun.
The start will be a mass start so if you could line up in a manner to suit your pace, for example if you do a 10k in say 45 minutes I would suggest you be near the front, 75 minutes towards the rear etc.
The event is over 10km or 6.2 miles.
It will have red and white tape along the whole course. Try to run on the side of the road tape is positioned.
Ideally runners should be heading towards oncoming traffic on the right side of the road so then can see if the car coming towards them is aware of them. However, and a very few sections where the road bends right it would be advisable to switch to the left side of the road. Pay particular attention so any road junctions for cars and tape. If you have not seen tape for a while, it probably means you have missed a bend. I will endeavour to have enough out there, so you are seldom out of sight of it. Please bear in mind it is not unusual for course marking to be removed by locals etc. Please make sure you are familiar with route.
If you feel you will need water on the run, please bring your usual filled container as water will only be provided at the finish. Please make sure no litter like gel wrappers etc are dropped.
Denise Poole will be tail runner to make sure all get to the finish.

The route >https://www.mapometer.com/running/route_5173838.html
The final section as you turn right just past the basins involves wooden slatted raised boards and some muddy sections. Please take extra care on those parts. Tired legs can make your reactions to a slide slower than normal so walk if you need to.
As you enter the playing field you will see the wellington running club flag and the finish. Head straight towards it. When you cross the finish line take a numbered token from a Marshall and head into a finish funnel marked by tape. Once at the front of the que hand you token over to a Marshall and give them you name. You will then then be given your goody bag and water.
